Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are given annually in memory of David and Chris.

David E. Retik Scholarship

The David Retik Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to a Senior enrolled in Weston High School and in need of financial assistance for college. The family seeks students that are actively involved in sports and who work hard in their academic classes. Having the best grades or scores is not a priority, but effort and challenges count. Community involvement, whether as work, volunteering or helping others is considered.

The applications are available through the guidance office at Weston High School.

Christopher D. Mello Scholarship

The Christopher Mello Scholarship at Rye High School is awarded to a student who has earned the respect of faculty and peers, is involved in community service, shows academic improvement through hard work, and is involved in extracurricular activities.

Awards are determined by the school guidance office at Rye High School.

Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation Golden Dozen Scholarship

The “Golden Dozen” is selected from a pool of about 60 candidates by the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation every year and includes the top scholar-athletes on the football field from the recently completed fall season. The organization awards five scholarships to some of the top scholar-athletes. The 12 students represent football playing scholars from across Westchester County.

The Christopher Mello Award is named for Chris, a former Rye High School student and 1993 Golden Dozen recipient. It is given to one scholar athlete each year who most emulates Chris in scholarship, leadership and football.

I received the David E. Retik scholarship in 2011. That scholarship was crucial for me to be able to go to college. Now, thanks to the education I was able to receive, I am working a job in the field I knew I wanted to pursue in high school.
